ACA Philosophy

ACA Desires to help Cultivate Self-Governing Families. Our philosophy of self-government is twofold. First, we believe the government should not direct the education of children, and that parents have been given the responsibility by the Lord to teach and train their children (Deuteronomy 6:7; Proverbs 22:6). The second aspect of our self-government philosophy is what distinguishes ACA from many other PSPs. Families are given the freedom to determine how they will meet ACA’s standards. We do not dictate curriculum choices, assign grades, structure coursework, monitor student progress, or require work samples. We also do not require standardized testing for the issuance of grades-only for certain academic honors.
